Diiiiiplooooopiiiiiaaaa - is not a song...

Seit meiner OP sind mittlerweile schon 22 Tage vergangen und wenn man die Blicke und teilweise neugierigen Fragen meiner Mitpatienten hier in der Reha-Klinik bedenkt, sehe ich wohl nicht mehr wie der typische Patient aus. Die Schwellung meines Gesichts ist jedenfalls sehr zurückgegangen und fast verschwunden und selbst die Pflegekraft, die morgens noch meine Narbe desinfiziert, merkte erst, wie groß die eigentlich ist, als ich sie fragte, warum sie denn nur ein Drittel der ganzen Narbe behandle. Was mache ich also noch hier? Momentan kämpfe ich ein bisschen mit meiner Geduld, denn während ich ja zunächst so große Fortschritte gemacht hatte, verbessert sich mein Auge bzw. mein räumliches Sehen mit beiden Augen nur sehr langsam. Gestern z.B. sollte ich für das Gleichgewichtstraining über eine Gymnastik-Bank laufen und kam nur ganz vorsichtig voran, ohne runterzufallen... Ihr könnt Euch vorstellen, dass mich das ein bisschen frustriert. Andererseits waren es ja auch erst drei Wochen!!!

It’s been 22 days since my meningioma surgery and judging by the looks and curious questions from some of my co-patients here in the rehab clinic, I don’t seem to look like a typical patient anymore. As you may notice on this new picture, the swelling of my face has almost vanished and even one of the nurses didn’t see the full size of my scar when disinfecting it daily until I asked her why she’s only doing it on a third of the whole scar. So, what am I still doing here? I’m getting a little impatient at the moment with not making much progress with my eye sight yet: yesterday I had to walk on a simple gym bench and couldn’t believe how difficult this actually still feels. My stereoscopic vision is disturbed and I have problems checking how deep a step on the stairs is - and that’s a little frustrating as you may guess... 🙄 But on the other side I’m convinced that this will come back. After all, it’s just been three weeks yet!
